An Open Letter to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Dear Mr. Kennedy,
We at RF Safe have long admired your dedication to public health and your fearless advocacy for the truth, even when it meant standing against powerful interests. Your work has inspired countless individuals, including those of us who have dedicated our lives to protecting others from the dangers of electromagnetic radiation.
When you announced your support for Donald Trump, we were hopeful. We believed that your alignment with the Trump campaign could finally bring attention to the critical issues that have been systematically ignored by the political establishment—the captured FCC, the Biden-Harris administration’s abrupt termination of the National Toxicology Program’s cancer research, and the woefully outdated FCC safety guidelines that continue to put every American at risk.
However, to our deep disappointment, we have noticed your silence on these very issues that you once championed so fervently. Your voice was a beacon of hope for those of us fighting to raise awareness about the dangers of wireless radiation. But now, as cell towers are being launched into space and the influence of powerful supporters like Elon Musk—who openly denies the health risks of cell phone radiation—grows stronger, your silence is deafening.
The NTP’s research provided clear evidence of cancer from cell phone radiation—research that was abruptly halted by the current administration. This was our best chance to force the FCC to update its guidelines, which are hopelessly outdated and fail to protect us from the non-thermal effects of wireless radiation. Yet, this issue seems to have been pushed aside in favor of more politically expedient topics.
Mr. Kennedy, we understand that the political landscape is complex, and difficult decisions must be made. But we urge you not to lose sight of the issues that matter most to the health and safety of the American people. The proliferation of wireless technologies, unchecked by rigorous safety standards, represents one of the greatest environmental health crises of our time. This is not just about public awareness—it’s about saving lives.
We need your voice now more than ever. We need you to stand up and speak out against the dangers of wireless radiation, to challenge the FCC’s outdated guidelines, and to demand that the NTP’s research be restarted. This issue transcends politics; it’s about the future of our children, the well-being of our communities, and the legacy we leave behind.
You have always been a fighter, Mr. Kennedy, and we believe that you still have the power to lead this fight. Please, do not let the influence of powerful interests silence the truth. The health of millions of Americans depends on it.
Sincerely,
John Coates

Democratic Policies and Regulatory Failures
FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler Confronted Over Cell Phone Radiation In Silicon Valley
Tom Wheeler and the Obama-Biden Administration
The roots of this crisis can be traced back to policy decisions made during the Obama-Biden administration. One of the most concerning moves was the appointment of Tom Wheeler, a former head of the wireless industry, as Chairman of the FCC. Under Wheeler’s leadership, the FCC became a protector of industry profits rather than public health. His tenure saw the implementation of policies that prioritized the expansion of wireless networks without sufficiently updating safety guidelines to reflect the growing body of evidence showing the potential harm of RF radiation.
The outdated guidelines established during Wheeler’s tenure are still in place today, and they do not adequately protect children, whose developing bodies are more susceptible to the harmful effects of RF radiation.
The Role of Tom Wheeler: A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing
The appointment of Tom Wheeler as Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) by President Barack Obama in 2013 is a prime example of the wireless industry’s influence over regulatory bodies. Wheeler, who served as the head of the CTIA—the wireless industry’s lobbying arm—from 1992 to 2004, was appointed to regulate the very industry he had spent decades defending.
This appointment is akin to putting a tobacco CEO in charge of the Surgeon General’s office. Wheeler’s history of defending the wireless industry from allegations of health hazards, even in the face of compelling scientific evidence, made him an unsuitable choice to lead the FCC.
Wheeler’s influence was immediately apparent. During his tenure, the FCC failed to update its radiofrequency radiation exposure guidelines, which were originally established in 1996. These guidelines, based on outdated science, focus solely on the thermal effects of radiation and ignore the growing body of evidence that suggests non-thermal effects, such as DNA damage and neurological impacts, pose significant health risks.
The FCC Under the Biden-Harris Administration
The Biden-Harris administration has continued the legacy of regulatory capture, failing to update these safety guidelines despite a U.S. Court of Appeals ruling that criticized the FCC’s standards as outdated and inadequate. This inaction exposes millions of children to preventable health risks every day.
This administration’s failure to act is particularly egregious given the mounting evidence of harm. By ignoring these risks, the Biden-Harris administration is effectively allowing the wireless industry to dictate public health policy—putting profits ahead of the well-being of American families.
The National Toxicology Program (NTP) and Halting of Critical Research
One of the most alarming developments under the Biden-Harris administration was the decision to halt critical cancer research conducted by the National Toxicology Program (NTP). This research had found clear evidence linking RF radiation to cancer, including the very type of brain cancer that took the life of Beau Biden. Instead of acting on these findings to safeguard our children, the administration chose to divert funds away from this vital research—leaving families without the knowledge and protections they need.
The Wireless Industry’s Role in Suppressing Science
The “Wargame” Memo: A Strategic Assault on Science
The wireless industry’s influence over public health policy is no accident; it is the result of a deliberate campaign to manipulate and suppress scientific research. The notorious “Wargame” memo, written by Motorola in 1994, provides a chilling glimpse into this strategy. The memo outlined a plan to “war-game” the science on cell phone radiation, aiming to discredit researchers, minimize findings that suggested health risks, and manipulate public perception.
One of the primary targets of this strategy was Dr. Henry Lai, a bioengineering professor at the University of Washington. Dr. Lai’s groundbreaking research showed that cell phone radiation could cause DNA damage. Rather than address these concerns responsibly, Motorola and its allies launched a campaign to undermine his work, funding research designed to contradict his findings and accusing him of bias.
Continued Suppression: A Page from Big Tobacco’s Playbook
The tactics employed by the wireless industry to suppress scientific research are eerily reminiscent of the strategies used by the tobacco industry decades ago. Just as Big Tobacco funded a barrage of “science for hire” to cast doubt on the link between smoking and cancer, the wireless industry has orchestrated a similar campaign to downplay the risks associated with electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and cell phone radiation.
One of the most alarming examples of this ongoing suppression is the decision by the Biden-Harris administration in 2024 to halt the National Toxicology Program (NTP) cancer research, even after the program found clear evidence linking cell phone radiation to cancer. This decision is particularly striking given that President Biden’s own son, Beau Biden, succumbed to a brain tumor—a type of cancer that the NTP research had attributed to radiation levels commonly emitted by cell phones. The choice to discontinue this critical research raises serious questions about the influence of the wireless industry on public health policy.
The Wireless Industry’s Science-for-Hire Tactics
In the years following the “Wargame” memo, the wireless industry continued to fund studies that would produce favorable outcomes, creating a cloud of doubt around independent research that pointed to health risks. This strategy mirrors the tactics used by the tobacco industry, which funded studies designed to downplay the dangers of smoking. By flooding the scientific community with conflicting studies, the wireless industry has managed to create confusion and delay regulatory action that could protect the public.
These science-for-hire tactics were not just limited to the 1990s. Even as recently as 2024, the industry has continued to downplay the risks of EMFs and cell phone radiation, despite mounting evidence to the contrary. The halting of the NTP cancer research is a stark reminder of the power that the wireless industry wields over public health decisions.
The Consequences of Ignoring the Science
The consequences of ignoring the science on EMFs and cell phone radiation are dire. As independent researchers continue to find links between radiation exposure and various health issues—including cancer, neurodevelopmental disorders, and reproductive problems—the public remains largely unaware of the risks. This ignorance is not accidental; it is the result of a calculated effort to suppress and manipulate the science.
The dismissal of the NTP’s findings is a dangerous precedent, one that echoes the past mistakes of the tobacco industry. By failing to act on clear evidence of harm, policymakers are putting millions of lives at risk. The parallels between the tactics used by Big Tobacco and the wireless industry are too striking to ignore, and they serve as a warning of the consequences of placing profit over public health.
Why We Must Demand Updated Safety Guidelines
The evidence is clear: the current safety guidelines for cell phone radiation are outdated and inadequate. They fail to account for the non-thermal effects of radiation, which have been shown to cause significant biological damage, particularly in children. Despite this, the wireless industry continues to downplay the risks, relying on outdated science and regulatory loopholes to avoid stricter regulations.
This is why it is imperative that we demand updated safety guidelines that reflect the latest scientific findings. The health and safety of our children depend on it. We cannot afford to wait for the wireless industry to voluntarily acknowledge the risks; history has shown that industries rarely act in the public’s best interest without significant pressure.
We must listen to the independent scientists who have been warning us about the dangers of EMFs for decades. We must hold policymakers accountable for their decisions and demand that they prioritize public health over industry profits. And most importantly, we must take action to protect ourselves and our families from the potential harm caused by cell phone radiation.
A Call to Action
The suppression of science by the wireless industry is not just a conspiracy theory—it is a documented strategy that has been in place for decades. The parallels to the tobacco industry’s tactics are undeniable, and the consequences of ignoring the science are too great to ignore.
As the evidence continues to mount, it is crucial that we push for updated safety guidelines that reflect the true risks of cell phone radiation. We cannot allow the wireless industry to continue to manipulate the science and put our health at risk. The time to act is now, before another generation is exposed to potentially harmful levels of radiation without adequate protection.
This is not just about protecting ourselves—it’s about protecting future generations. We must demand that our leaders take this issue seriously and implement the necessary changes to ensure that our children grow up in a world where their health and safety are not compromised by corporate interests.
