Purpose of the Bill
The purpose of S. 893, the Secure 5G and Beyond Act of 2019, is to require the President to develop a strategy to ensure the security of 5th generation (5G) and other future generations of wireless communications systems and infrastructure in the United States and to assist allies in maximizing the security of their 5G and other future generations of wireless communications systems and infrastructure, and software.

Secure 5G and Beyond Act of 2020
This bill requires the President, in consultation with relevant federal agencies, to develop a strategy to secure and protect U.S. fifth and future generations (5G) systems and infrastructure.
Such strategy, to be known as the National Strategy to Secure 5G and Next Generation Wireless Communications, shall (1) ensure the security of 5G wireless communications systems and infrastructure within the United States; (2) assist mutual defense treaty allies, strategic partners, and other countries in maximizing the security of 5G systems and infrastructure; and (3) protect the competitiveness of U.S. companies, the privacy of U.S. consumers, and integrity of standards-setting bodies.
A description of United States national and economic security interests pertaining to the deployment of 5th and future generations wireless communications systems and infrastructure.
(2) An identification and assessment of potential security threats and vulnerabilities to the infrastructure, equipment, systems, software, and virtualized networks that support 5th and future generations wireless communications systems, infrastructure, and enabling technologies, which shall, as practicable, include a comprehensive evaluation of the full range of threats to, and unique security challenges posed by, 5th and future generations wireless communications systems and infrastructure, as well as steps that public and private sector entities can take to mitigate those threats.
A plan for engagement with private sector communications infrastructure and systems equipment developers to encourage the maximum participation possible on standards-setting bodies related to such systems and infrastructure equipment standards by public and private sector entities from the United States.

Using an in vitro cell line, it is reported that the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein significantly inhibits DNA damage repair. Mechanistically, it was found that the spike protein localizes in the nucleus and inhibits DNA damage repair by impeding key DNA repair protein BRCA1 and 53BP1 recruitment to the damaged site.

The advisory group of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization advisory group has released new recommendations to reassess as a “high priority” the cancer risks of radiofrequency (RF) radiation between 2020–2024. The recommendations were published in The Lancet Oncology on April 18, 2019. The IARC advisory group of 29 scientists from 18 countries met in March 2019. Many WHO/IARC scientists have publicly stated the classification will likely strengthen due to the National Toxicology Program study.
The Class 2B classification includes wireless radiation from any transmitting source such as 5G cellphones, baby monitors, tablets, cell towers, radar, other wifi, etc. It applies to RF-EMF in the range of 30 kHz to 300 GHz emitted from any device- not just cell phones.
