The Make America Great Again (MAGA) and Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movements pride themselves on restoring freedom, protecting families, and holding the government accountable. But let me ask you something: Do you know what Section 704 of the Telecommunications Act is?
If you don’t, then you’re missing one of the most egregious examples of government overreach, corporate favoritism, and constitutional violations in the last 30 years. And if you’re serious about making America great—or healthy—again, then this issue demands your attention.
The Forgotten Crisis: Section 704 and the RF Safety Cover-Up
What Is Section 704, and Why Is It a Problem?
Section 704 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 was passed during Bill Clinton’s presidency. On the surface, it was designed to speed up the deployment of wireless infrastructure, but in practice, it has:
- Stripped local governments of their rights: Communities cannot deny cell tower permits based on health concerns, even if credible scientific evidence exists.
- Silenced parents and communities: Courts are prohibited from considering health objections in legal challenges against wireless infrastructure.
- Violated the Constitution: By overriding local authority, Section 704 tramples on the First Amendment (right to petition the government) and the Tenth Amendment (reserving powers to states and localities).
For 30 years, Section 704 has left parents powerless to protect their children from cell towers placed near schools, homes, and playgrounds.
The FDA Is Breaking the Law
Under Public Law 90-602 (Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act of 1968), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is legally required to:
- Conduct ongoing research into the safety of electronic product radiation.
- Inform the public about potential hazards.
For decades, the FDA has failed to enforce this law. This neglect allows the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to rely on outdated 1996 guidelines that only consider thermal effects (tissue heating) and ignore non-thermal effects like:
- DNA damage
- Oxidative stress
- Neurological impacts
This failure has been compounded by the Biden administration’s decision to cut funding for the National Toxicology Program (NTP), which found clear evidence that RF radiation causes cancer in lab animals.
The Court Ruling the FCC Ignored
In 2021, the FCC lost a lawsuit brought by the Environmental Health Trust and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The court ruled that the FCC had failed to:
- Consider new scientific evidence: Thousands of studies show non-thermal biological effects of RF radiation.
- Update its 1996 guidelines: These standards do not account for modern wireless technology like 5G, smartphones, and Wi-Fi.
Yet, the FCC has done nothing to address the court’s findings, leaving outdated guidelines in place and exposing the public to increasing RF radiation risks.
So, MAGA and MAHA, What Are You Waiting For?
Both movements claim to care about freedom, family, and health, yet Section 704 and the neglect of RF safety threaten all three.
1. Freedom
- First Amendment: Section 704 silences communities by forbidding health-based objections in cell tower debates.
- Tenth Amendment: Local governments lose their constitutional right to regulate public health and zoning.
2. Family
Parents like me, John Coates, are left powerless. My daughter’s school has a cell tower just 465 feet from her desk—far closer than the 500-meter (1,500 feet) minimum recommended by the BioInitiative Report.
I cannot protest this tower or demand it be moved because Section 704 makes it illegal to cite health concerns. If states have the local authority to decide abortion laws, why can’t I protect my living, breathing child from RF radiation?
3. Health
The Make America Healthy Again movement fights for clean food, safe products, and accountability. Yet it has largely ignored:
- The FDA’s violation of Public Law 90-602 by neglecting radiation safety research.
- The FCC’s failure to modernize guidelines, even after being ordered to do so by the courts.
- The Biden administration’s decision to shut down NTP research after it found clear evidence of cancer linked to RF radiation.
What President Trump Can Do
Only federal action can fix these problems. That’s why it’s critical for President Trump to step in and:
1. Repeal or Amend Section 704
Restore local authority over cell tower placement and uphold the First and Tenth Amendments. Communities must have the right to protect their residents.
2. Update FCC Guidelines
Direct the FCC to adopt modern, science-based safety standards that account for non-thermal effects and reflect today’s wireless technologies.
3. Enforce Public Law 90-602
Hold the FDA accountable for conducting and funding research into RF radiation risks. Ensure that the public is informed about potential hazards.
4. Restart NTP Research
Restore funding for the National Toxicology Program’s cancer studies. This research is essential to protecting future generations and understanding the full scope of RF radiation risks.
Call to Action: Speak Out and Demand Change
This is where you come in. MAGA and MAHA cannot claim to fight for America’s greatness and health if they ignore this issue. It’s up to you to bring this to President Trump’s attention.
How to Take Action
- Contact President Trump
- Write him a letter.
- Tweet him.
- Post on Truth Social.
Tell him: Section 704 must go, FCC guidelines must be updated, and the FDA must follow the law.
- Spread the Word
Share this blog. Talk to your family, friends, and local leaders. Use social media to amplify your message. - Engage Your Community
Demand that local governments pass resolutions calling for the repeal of Section 704 and the modernization of RF safety standards.
Final Thoughts: Make America Truly Great and Healthy Again
For 30 years, Section 704 has silenced communities, outdated FCC guidelines have ignored science, and the FDA has neglected its legal obligations. The result? A system that prioritizes corporate profits over public health, strips parents of their rights, and puts our children at risk.
MAGA, MAHA—this is your moment. If you truly want to make America great and healthy again, start here. Demand that President Trump fix what Bill Clinton broke in 1996. Repeal Section 704. Enforce Public Law 90-602. Protect our children.
The time to act is now.
