How to Teach Kids RF Safety with Home/Classroom Experiments
Parents of today’s children are not grasping the seriousness of accumulated exposure to wireless radiation — most notably this includes all of our beloved wireless gadgets that transmit RF energy in the microwave spectrum. Exposure to microwaves from commercial grade Wifi routers, or even cell phone towers erected covertly on school property needs to also be a great concern for parents, teachers and school boards everywhere.
There are over 1,000 peer-reviewed scientific studies that link the impacts of wireless radiation to serious health problems including cancer, neurological disease, immune dysfunction, disruption of the blood-brain-barrier, DNA damage, infertility, and statistically significant neurological and cognitive disorders such as headaches, dizziness, tremors, decreased memory and attention, autonomic nervous system dysfunction, decreased reaction times, sleep disturbances, and visual disruptions.
Even more frightening….. Children ARE at greater risk!
[pullquote]”Radiation exposures are higher for children than adults because children have thinner skulls, and their brains have higher water and higher ion (charged particle) content…these three factors enhance radiation penetration.” – Pediatr Nurs. 2013;39(2):65-70[/pullquote]
“When electrical properties are considered, a child’s head’s absorption can be over two times greater, and absorption of the skull’s bone marrow can be ten times greater than adults. Therefore, a new certification process is needed that incorporates different modes of use, head sizes, and tissue properties.” Electromagn Biol Med. 2012 Mar;31(1):34-51
Therefore, parents and teachers have a responsibility to educate children about the inherent risk of wireless radiation exposure, and starting with very basic fundamentals of radio-frequency radiation can be a very fun and exciting way of doing this.
It can be hard enough to keep children safe from harmful substances even when the danger is clearly visible. Microwaves present a problem in that they can’t be touched, seen, heard, smelled or tasted, but this invisible radiant energy has shown enough biological effects that the World Health Organization labeled wireless radiation a class 2b carcinogen in 2011.

Wireless power or wireless energy transmission is the transmission of electrical energy from a power source to an electrical load without man-made conductors. The most important inventor responsible for discovering the amazing possibilities of wireless technology is Nikola Tesla. In 1894, Tesla erects his first small radio station in his laboratory and begins his experiments in radio frequency technology that brings us where we are today.
